A Smash Hit! WTN Parent/Child Doubles Tournament Unites Bay Area Tennis Families

Santa Rosa, CA – September 7, 2025 – What an incredible day for tennis and family fun! The WTN Parent/Child Green & Yellow Ball Doubles Tournament at Montgomery High School in Santa Rosa was a resounding success, bringing together a fantastic community of players for spirited competition and unforgettable memories. And the best part? This is just the beginning – we're already looking forward to more exciting events like this in the future!

The energy on the courts was electric, fueled by the unique pairing of parents (or other supportive adults like grandparents, uncles, or cousins!) and children. Teams were grouped intelligently based on their combined World Tennis Number (WTN) ratings, ensuring fair and competitive matches across the board. Whether it was the lively Junior Circuit Six Game Sets for the Green Ball teams (children 13 and under) or the intense one-regular-set matches for the Yellow Ball participants (children 18 and under), every team brought their A-game.

A True Bay Area Gathering

One of the most heartwarming aspects of the day was the incredible turnout from across the entire Bay Area. Players traveled from various communities, transforming Montgomery High School into a vibrant hub for regional tennis families. It was fantastic to see so many familiar faces and welcome new ones, all united by their love for the game and the special bond of doubles play. This broad participation truly underscores the growing enthusiasm for tennis in our region and highlights the desire for more accessible and fun competitive opportunities.

Focus on Fun, Skill, and Sportsmanship

While trophies were certainly a motivator, the emphasis remained firmly on developing skills, understanding the rules, and fostering sportsmanship. Players were empowered to make their own line calls and keep track of scores, promoting independence and fair play. It's important to note that while no tournament ranking points were earned (as these are not sanctioned tournaments), all results will contribute to each player's World Tennis Number – a fantastic way to track progress!

We extend our sincerest thanks to all the families who participated, making this event such a memorable one. Your enthusiasm and sportsmanship made the day truly special.

Stay tuned to our website and social media channels for announcements on upcoming parent/child tournaments and other exciting events! We can't wait to see you back on the courts!
